The Micro French Manicure Is The Minimalist Nail Trend That’s So Easy To Master
It’s a little bit fancier than the original French manicure.
French manicures and all of their variations have been popular for a long time. With French tips in different colours and “negative space” manicures being so popular right now, you might not think there’s room for another type of French manicure, but there is.
The micro French manicure is here.
What is a micro French manicure?
The micro French manicure is pretty much what it sounds like: “an elegant ultra-thin French line across the tip of the nail,” says by Nails educator. She adds that it’s a great way to make your nails look longer, especially if they’re on the shorter side.
Who does the micro French manicure look best on?
The best thing about this trend? It works for all lengths and shapes of nails. On very short nails, it makes the nail look longer and more cared for. “On long coffins or stilettos, it gives the beautiful shape a perfect outline.”
The look best on nails with almond shapes, though. Plus, it gives the artist a lot of room for creativity. You can try out different colours on the tip, like red or black, and add other lines on top.
How do I get a micro French manicure at home?
The best way to do a micro French manicure on your own is to start with a base that is opaque or shimmery. So, even if the French tip is thinner than the natural extensions, it will cover the whole nail and natural tip. She suggests a pink opaque nail polish, like LeChat Dare to Wear in Paloma, a tan or beige opaque nail polish, or a tan or beige opaque nail polish with a white lacquer-based liner, like LeChat Nails CM Art Gel White. (If you don’t already have one, don’t forget to buy a thin liner brush for the micro French line!)
The first step in giving yourself a manicure is to put on two coats of the lacquer base and let them dry for a while. Before it’s completely dry, practise drawing the line on a piece of paper to get used to the brush. When you’re ready, paint the tip of your nail.
