Typical day and night

When a new baby comes home, it brings a lot of new tasks and challenges that can be exhausting. Is there such a thing as a normal day and night for new parents? Most likely not!
Don’t forget that the baby has also just gone through a big change, so when you first bring him home, he will be making the transition from the womb to the outside world. Keep the baby close to you and warm by wrapping him in blankets. If you’re breastfeeding, both of you will need some time to get used to this.

If you are using formula to feed your new baby, he will need to eat every 3 to 5 hours. If you are nursing him, he will need to eat more often. You might feel like you do nothing but breastfeed all day and night. You might feel a lot more sympathy for cows. And you’ll have to change his diapers a lot at first until you learn his routine. At first, his nappy will probably need to be changed about every hour, right after he eats. Make sure to look often.

You should only give the baby sponge baths every few days until the umbilical cord falls off, but you should wash the baby’s bottom every day. Every day, you can use a soft towel and warm water to clean the baby’s hands, face, neck, and bottom. When the baby is ready for full baths in a few weeks, it’s best to give him or her a bath every day to keep nappy rashes from happening. But keep in mind that if he takes too many baths, his sensitive skin can get dry. So find out what your baby likes.

The baby’s fingernails and toes will grow quickly, and they’ll need to be trimmed often so the baby doesn’t scratch himself. Even at birth, a baby’s nails can be long and high on the nail bed. You’ll need to gently push the fingertip away from the nail and use a baby nail clipper to cut the nail. You might want to do this while the baby is sleeping so he doesn’t pull his fingers and toes off!

At least for the first month, you should get used to being busy all the time. You will have to feed and change the baby all the time, so get as much help as you can so you can also get some rest.
