The importance of the 12 B vitamins
The 12 B vitamin is one of the important B vitamins that your body needs to stay fit. The 12B vitamin is also called cobalamin. It is needed for the processes that turn carbs, fats, and proteins in food into energy. 12 B is also important because it helps keep the red blood cells healthy, which helps prevent heart disease and keeps the defense system working at its best. Also, 12 b is used to make the coat that all nerve cells in the body have to protect them.
The most important thing 12B does is help make healthy red blood cells. All cells, though, need 12 b to stay fit. White blood cells, among others, need 12 b to help the defense system work well. All nerve cells in the body need 12 b to make the fatty layer that protects them. This is very important for all nerves, but especially for the nerves in the brain. If there isn’t enough vitamin B12 to make this safe layer, the brain won’t work right.
The amount of vitamin B12 that the body needs is pretty small, but it needs it all the time. But 12 B on its own isn’t enough because the body can’t easily absorb it. To help the body absorb 12 b, the stomach makes a chemical called intrinsic factor. This chemical makes it easier for the body to take more 12 b. 12 b is only found in animal foods like liver, eggs, fish, and meat, but most people eat much more than the amount of 12 b that is suggested for a day. This is not a problem because the body can only receive about half of the 12 b that is eaten. It’s also important to know that the body can recover 12 b, which lessens the effects of a lack of it. But strict vegetarians or vegans who don’t eat any animal goods that contain 12 b may need to take 12 b supplements.
If the body doesn’t get enough vitamin B12, the most obvious sign is anaemia. Clearly, this is because there isn’t enough vitamin B12 to make healthy red blood cells. Anaemia can also happen when the body doesn’t make enough intrinsic factors to help absorb the 12 b from the food eaten. When a person turns 50, their bodies tend to make fewer intrinsic factors. This means that they receive less than 12 b and may need to take 12 b supplements. Children can also get anaemia because they might not eat enough foods with vitamin B12. Pregnant women need more 12 b because their babies need 12 b to grow properly while they are in the womb.
